In traditional construction projects, it is essential to establish the appropriate scaffolding and access solution right from the project’s outset. This ensures that the scaffolding provided creates a safe and efficient working environment for multiple trades.
Typically, a single-boarded working platform is erected, adhering to SG4:15 and TG20:13 guidelines, as the brickwork and floors of the building are constructed. As work progresses towards the eaves, the final working platform is positioned to accommodate roofing tasks. Subsequently, adaptations to the scaffolding are made to facilitate external finishes, cleaning, or window installation.
Today, scaffolding working platforms are generally erected with two levels per floor of the building. This setup includes a maximum 1.5-meter bricklayer platform and an additional level to support floor installation without exceeding a fall greater than 450mm, as mandated for safe floor installation. This arrangement also ensures compliance with SG4:15 safety standards, as the handrail for the next working platform is installed from the already boarded platform below. This process involves placing ledgers at handrail height and then raising the boards and brickguards.
